Description
Hero – Shoutcast Icecast Radio Player – Elementor 2.7.0
🎧 What It Is
Hero is a WordPress/Elementor widget addon that allows easy embedding of live radio streams (Shoutcast, Icecast, AzuraCast, RadioJar) with history support. Version 2.7.0 improves stability, customization, and compatibility. (XYZ Theme)
🛠 Key Features
- Shoutcast & Icecast Support — Streams must be MP3 type; AAC streams are also supported in browsers that support AAC. (Graphicfort)
- Only Stream Required — Just adding the stream URL is enough; the current song and artist image (if available) are pulled automatically. (Graphicfort)
- Responsive Design — Works on responsive WordPress sites. Option to disable responsiveness if integrating into non-responsive design. (Graphicfort)
- Mobile Compatible — Compatible with iOS and Android. (Graphicfort)
- Artist Image Display — If the artist image is available in metadata database, it is shown. (Graphicfort)
- Customizable Appearance — Two default skins: black & white. Additionally, more than 30 customization parameters (colors, width, autoplay etc.) are available. (Graphicfort)
- Sticky Mode — Can make the player sticky (fixed position while scrolling) on a page. Only one player per page can be sticky. (Graphicfort)
- History Support — Automatically fetches song history for Shoutcast; for Icecast, generates history dynamically while streaming. (Graphicfort)
- Show/Hide History — Option to show or hide the history, and also to start with it hidden. (Graphicfort)
- Social Share — Share the radio player or current track on Facebook & Twitter; customizable share title/description. (Graphicfort)
- Multiple Instances — You can embed more than one player on a page (max 2), but only one instance can be sticky. (Graphicfort)
- Show/Hide Controls — Toggle visibility of playlist, volume, share buttons etc. (Graphicfort)
⚠️ Limitations & Notes
- Autoplay Restrictions — Autoplay is generally disabled on iOS/Android due to device/browser rules. (Graphicfort)
- Volume Control on Mobile — Some mobile OSes don’t allow JS-based volume control; users might have to use physical volume buttons. (Graphicfort)
- Server & Version Compatibility — Older versions of Shoutcast or Icecast might not function correctly for some features (e.g. history, metadata). Keeping server software updated is recommended. (Graphicfort)
- Browser Autoplay / Mixed Content — Browsers like Chrome, Safari, Firefox impose autoplay policies; using secure (HTTPS) streams is better. Also mixed HTTP/HTTPS requests may cause issues. (Graphicfort)
💡 Use Cases & Advantages
- Great for radio stations, music blogs, or sites that want to stream live audio content.
- Enhances user experience by showing current track + artist image; adds credibility and professionalism.
- Works well on modern, responsive websites, and integrates with Elementor so layout/design control is easier.
